To be honest, this river has been here since I entered the factory 20 years ago. In the early years, the production task of packaging machinery was heavy, and everyone really didn't pay attention to it. Last year, the factory carried out green production practice, and the first thing was to do a "physical examination" of the river - rusty iron pipes were buried in the silt, discarded packaging films were piled on the shore, and even the water plants grew into "garbage display racks". The factory director said at the time: "We are making food packaging equipment. If the environment at our door is not up to standard, how can we have the confidence to talk to customers about hygiene standards?"
During this World Environment Day action, the factory directly stopped work for half a day. More than 200 people were responsible for piecemeal work, and even the retired old workshop director came back wearing a straw hat to supervise. This confidence is not out of thin air-the wastewater circulation device introduced last year can reduce the water consumption of the packaging machinery cleaning process by 40%, and the treated water is directly used to irrigate the newly planted willow seedlings on the river bank.
During the cleaning process, I really encountered an interesting thing. The new guy in the sales department dug out a rusty part in the silt and insisted that it was a relic of the first generation of packaging machines in our factory. Later, I asked the old master in the technical department to identify it and found that it was a conveyor belt accessory that was eliminated by the neighboring factory 20 years ago. This incident reminds us: Factory environmental governance is like equipment maintenance. It is not enough to just clean the surface. The source of pollution must be cut off from the root. Now in the workshop, even the empty barrels of cutting oil must be scanned and traced. Who dares to throw a screw around?
The person who was most touched was Mr. Li from the packaging workshop. While planting pennywort on the ecological floating island, he said, "In the early years, we only cared about making the machines run fast. Now we know that making the factory environment 'green' is the real skill." This is true. Last week, a customer from Northeast China came to inspect the goods. When he saw the carp swimming in the river, he signed a three-year contract with us on the spot, saying, "For a company that can manage the production environment so well, the quality of its equipment must be good."
This action also gave birth to a new idea - the equipment research and development department is experimenting with using reed stalks in the river to make packaging cushioning materials. If it really works, our packaging machinery environmental protection upgrade will have another special card in the future. It's interesting to think about it. Thirty years ago, when the factory was built, the river was filled and the land was expanded. Thirty years later, we saved the river with our own hands. This is probably the cycle that the manufacturing industry should have.
Before closing the work, the factory director stood on the newly paved viewing plank road and said: "Today we are cleaning the river, and tomorrow we are protecting our jobs." This may sound rough, but it is true. After all, who would want to buy food packaging equipment made by a polluting enterprise?
